So what happens if I don’t have a plan? GoFundMe Funerals and CashApp Caskets
In December 2020, our family lost a sister, an aunt, a mother, and a friend. Later that day we lost her father, who was also a grandfather, a brother, an uncle, and a husband. These are only a few words we used to describe them during the memorials that followed.
When a loved one in our community passes, too many of us have GoFundMe funerals and CashApp caskets. We send prayers with PayPal, are forced to grieve while we give, and worry and wonder if last wishes are being fulfilled.
“She didn’t want to be cremated.”
“What happened to his magazine collection?
“Who got the car?”
“Where are the kids going to stay?”
“Did he have life insurance?”
“Can you pay in full today?”
Making a legacy plan helps answer these questions for your family and friends.
We can do better. We must do better. For ourselves and for our future. The generational wealth of tomorrow begins with a plan today. It’s estimated that by 2053 most Black households in America will have $0 in wealth. That means no homes, no cash, and no valuables to pass on. But that means today, that you DO have something to give. Don’t let it get lost in the chaos of family conflict and grief.
Claim it, name it, and pass it on.
The five steps in our pledge don’t require an attorney. It just requires your willingness to make a plan. We’re here help you get started today!
